Browser Bridge

Music Bridge connects a supported music tab to Fiji on your PC. It lets Fiji distinguish the provider instead of seeing only “Chrome is playing audio.”

Desktop app? Spotify and the supported Apple Music Windows app don’t need Music Bridge. Last.fm uses your username instead.

Before installing

Use Fiji Client 1.1.55 or newer and sign in. Open Settings → Connect browser in Fiji to register the local connection.

Download the extension from Fiji’s browser playback page using your account. Extract the ZIP into a folder you will keep. Don’t load it from a temporary folder you plan to delete.

Chrome and Edge

1. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome or edge://extensions in Edge.
2. Turn on Developer mode.
3. Select Load unpacked and choose the extracted Chrome-Edge folder.
4. Reload your music tab, then press play.
5. Choose the matching provider in Fiji. Browser source can remain Automatic.

Firefox

1. Open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox.
2. Choose Load Temporary Add-on.
3. Select Firefox/manifest.json from the extracted extension.
4. Reload your music tab and press play.

A temporary Firefox add-on must be loaded again after Firefox restarts. Check the download page for the current distribution instructions. Safari is not included in this extension package.

Update Music Bridge

Replace the files in your existing extension folder with the latest download. Reload the extension on the browser’s extensions page, then reload your music tabs once.

Updating Fiji alone does not update an unpacked extension. Keep the client and bridge versions in your support report so we can check both.

“Connecting to Fiji Client”

Make sure Fiji is open and signed in. Run Settings → Connect browser, then use the Music Bridge popup to retry the connection. Reload the music tab after reloading or replacing the extension.

If an error points to chrome.runtime.sendMessage, refresh the affected tab first. An older tab can still contain a disconnected copy of the extension. If it continues, send the full error text and both version numbers to support.

What the bridge reads

The bridge reads music metadata, the current music-page address, and playback position on supported music sites. It isn’t a tool for reading unrelated tabs, passwords, or recording audio. See Fiji’s privacy notice for the full details.
